ABOUT ARCHS
The ARCHS Institute was created in 2007 by the Institute for Public Strategies as part of a project funded by the Federal Government's Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grants program. With a focus on community health and safety, ARCHS applies findings from current research studies and other data to improve environmental conditions in neighborhoods and ensure the well being of local residents. As part of this effort, the ARCHS Institute sends out periodic News Releases designed to raise public awareness about problems relating to the availability of alcohol and other drugs and solutions based on the Environmental Change Model. Such information is intended to empower community members to take appropriate action to address the underlying conditions that are causing these problems.
The ARCHS Institute maintains an Experts Panel of researchers, policy advisors and substance abuse prevention consultants who are noted for their expertise with the Environmental Change Model. Together with the staff of the Institute, they work to set priorities and develop policy-based solutions that have the potential to effect lasting change.
