SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY PREVENTION REGIONS

The County of San Bernardino is divided into eight different regions in which prevention services are provided by local agencies. Three of the six regions are located in and around the City of San Bernardino. These include the west valley region served by Reach Out West End, the central valley region served by Mental Health Systems and the east valley region served by Vista Guidance Center. (See map below.) The other two regions pictured on the map are the communities comprising Lake Arrowhead, served by Rim Family Services, and the Big Bear, which is served by Operation Breakthrough. The sixth region comprises the High Desert near Barstow and is not pictured on the map. This region is also served by the Vista Guidance Center.

Having offices located in their respective service areas allows regional providers to work more effectively with local residents, recruiting them as partners and engaging them in prevention activities. However there are two other providers providing services on a county wide basis: the Institute for Public Strategies and the San Bernardino Department of Public Health. All of these providers work together to coordinate prevention activities carried out within the county.
