TARGET AREAS
Target areas are geographic regions within a community in which prevention providers focus their efforts. These areas are identified by looking at areas that are known to be “hot spots” for high crime and/or are identified by city officials as areas of concern. Working in target areas allows prevention providers to dedicate resources where they are most needed and/or are likely to have the greatest impact in addressing the problems that arise from alcohol and other drug use. Through working with city officials, local residents, neighborhood organizations and substance abuse prevention providers, the following target areas have been identified in San Bernardino County:
